Network Tower Traffic map
Project Details: To create a map based on network traffic data for tower sites indicating latency and load. Network radio traffic data was overlaid represented by colored-coded and bivariate symbology to indicate the data ranges. The cell towers were created with triangles indicating antenna direction. The inner and outer rings of the triangles show various data ranges. This tool was used by network troubleshooters to improve customer performance. These maps were animated over time to view trends through a searchable ASP application by tower site. MapBasic batch scripts created the maps from data in a FoxPro database for hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly views.

Network latency map
Project Details: To create a map based on network traffic data. Network nodes were color-coded based on their latency to the cell tower. This map represents where the trouble spots were in the network. Other versions used subscriber density and grid-based interpolated maps data.

Radios to Tower map
Project Details: To create a map indicating which network radios were assigned to a particular cell tower. This early version showed an overview of where the radios were located indicating possible errors in the assignments. Green indicates the assigned radios. A web-based ASP page was used to search for a particular tower and associated image.

This updated version dropped the object symbols and instead replaced them with the network ID of the device to quickly resolve problem. The blue labels indicate the radios assigned to the lime-green highlighted tower.
